The Azadi Project

Ek Kadam Agency

In July 2024, we launched our sewing-based skill training program at the Khush Azad Kaabil Women’s Center, made possible by the generous support of donors from around the globe. A heartfelt thanks to Maggie Jones for her visionary leadership, training, and fundraising efforts that brought this initiative to life. Following a needs assessment, participants expressed a strong desire to learn skills that could help them achieve financial independence.

For many migrants and displaced women, financial instability and limited access to work opportunities remain significant challenges. Through this project, the women have already sold items worth twenty thousand rupees and are steadily growing their skills and income. We’re still learning and evolving, but here’s a glimpse of our journey so far.

What are we making?

The women at the center specialize in crafting beautiful, handcrafted bags that are both functional and stylish. Each piece is thoughtfully made with attention to detail, using quality materials. From sturdy tote bags perfect for daily use to custom designs, every item tells a story of resilience and hope.

In addition to bags, participants are also learning how to create smaller accessories such as crochet flowers and bookmarks, which have been well-received by supporters. These creations not only highlight their growing skill set but also offer a unique way for buyers to support a meaningful cause while owning a handcrafted product.
